I would like to thank all of you in the village who not only supported Mum in so many ways while she was not in good health, but were a huge support to me during some difficult times. So many of you helped make her funeral an occasion of which we should all be immensely proud, and for which I and the family are grateful beyond words. Special thanks must go to all those kind people who decorated the church so beautifully – using flowers from Mum’s garden too, which was a wonderful touch and would have delighted her. The service itself was a true celebration of Mum, who she was as a person and what she meant to a village that meant the world to her – our thanks for the wonderful organisation, the lovely organ playing, Betty for her great tribute (not forgetting the hat!) and to dear Kelvin for his words of respect, affection and commemoration which were so much appreciated. Also to those who made the village hall look so lovely for after the funeral with setting up, running the bar, the super food and those pretty flowers.
Most of all, sincere thanks from the family and myself to all those who attended the service. So many of you there to help us celebrate Mum’s life and be sad for its passing. I’ve said it before and no doubt will be saying it again – this is truly an extraordinary community and should be cherished by us all.
