Report from the Village Hall Committee Meeting 6th October 2014

Twelve members attended the October meeting with Sarah Cooke, Deputy Chairman, taking the Chair in the absence of David Brundrett. Correspondence had been received concerning the exclusion of animals from the Hall and it was agreed that the Committee’s previous decision should stand until the Hall Constitution was reviewed, at which time the whole question of animals could be revisited.

Resignation from the Committee had been received from Dave Froggatt. A big thank you was recorded for his incredible contribution to the running of the Hall since he and Carole had arrived in the village.

A decision on the latest grant funding application to Veolia would not be known until December. The Building Sub-Group was asked to draw up plans of work with and without external funding so that at least some refurbishment could be carried out during the low period between the New Year and Easter.

The sports field had been registered with the Land Registry but there was no further development with the potential split of the field between the Village Hall and the other joint owners.

Reports were received on the very successful Car Boot Sale (with thanks to a beautiful day and the amazing efforts of Janie Jones and her team) and the equally successful Bavarian and Chinese evenings.

Plans and arrangements for forthcoming events were discussed including the Grand Variety Concert on 18th October, Christmas Capers on 19th December and the New Year’s Eve celebrations on 31st December, this year to be a themed Bond night (fancy dress optional!).
