Westonbury Mill Water Gardens

westonburyWe happened upon this delightful garden because Monty Don mentioned it in a summer gardening programme. Maybe everyone has already been there!
The guy who has created it is a hydro geologist so as you can imagine, it includes ponds, streams and water features.
Half of the garden is filled with masses of colourful and varied plants – it doesn’t look too defined and you just wander gently through, each part easily merging into the next. The rest of the garden is less cultivated with wild flowers and shrubs and beyond lies farmland.
There are seats round many corners and plenty of shade provided by trees. The follies are fascinating, like a sparkling grotto made from 5,000 colourful wine bottles sparkling in the sunshine.
The garden is open 1st April – 30th September (£6.00 for adults) and there are the all important tea room and loos. You’ve got time to see it before it closes!
