Knit & Stitch June 2016

The sun was shining, the bunting was fluttering and the 4 corgis welcomed us to the village hall for our monthly meeting.
Show and tell included a colourful hand stitched felt key fob, finished off from our last meeting; a beautifully knitted jacket and some lovely handmade cards. Work was in progress on a wonderful blue and white quilt which was being hand-quilted. It was so nice to see the quilt developing and to gain an insight of the processes involved.
A lovely tapestry kit has been donated to the group and this will be included in the craft sales table at the village fete on 11th June.
Most members had a go at the workshop on re-cycling old T-shirts. It’s amazing how much yarn you can get out of one small T-shirt when it’s cut correctly. The yarn can be used for making all sorts of things and is especially good for mats, large and small. Large crochet hooks and knitting needles were available for people to experiment with, whilst one member did braiding which was then stitched into a round.
Final finishing touches were added to a lovely felt flower brooch.
Next month: There will be an optional workshop on Glass painting. We will be up-cycling a small glass jar into a tea-light holder. Bring a small glass jar suitable for holding a tea-light along with a small artist’s paint brush if you have one.
As usual, some members will be doing their own thing and working on their own projects. Anything goes at our sessions. It’s a relaxed and informal gathering and everyone is most welcome to join us.
Next meeting: 2pm Monday 20 June (3rd Monday).
