Unfortunately, due to illness, our May speakers were unable to attend the meeting and so two of our members were ‘encouraged’ to volunteer and elaborate on the two resolutions being taken forward to our 2016 Annual General Meeting. Sue Phipers and Jenny Daniel did really well at such short notice putting various points for and against each resolution. We all added our views which made it a lively and interesting discussion. Our first evening walk was very successful. It had been a wet day but fortunately dried up and turned into a pleasant evening. We set off from Hope Bagot, walked for one and a half hours through fields, over numerous rickety stiles and through a very pretty bluebell wood. We did encounter a dozen very enthusiastic and inquisitive bullocks but fortunately Sheila had their measure and sent them packing. We ended up at Bennetts End for some welcome liquid refreshment. Six members went to Cob House Fisheries at Wichenford, Worcestershire and enjoyed the Segstreme Experience…….. well five of them enjoyed it! There was some friendly rivalry as they manoeuvred their self-balancing machines through the forest trail. Nancy Pike achieved the fastest time and was declared the winner. The patriotic Yarn Bombing is up in Ashford and looks fantastic, please come and see it if you are passing and don’t forget to look out for the corgis that are loitering around the village hall vestibule. Our next meeting is at Ashford on 8th June, Sally Loach and Claire Williams will give us a talk on ‘Let’s Entertain!’ Summer entertaining made easy. The competition is A Summer Cordial. SMW
