THE RECTOR’S LETTER

Dear Friends
I am delighted to be able to welcome Revd. Preb Nick Helm, to the Benefice. Nick will have been licensed to the Benefice as an Associate Priest, by the Bishop of Ludlow on Sunday 22nd September. Nick currently works as Ministerial & Spiritual Development and Curate Training Officer for the Diocese of Hereford but he will be leaving his post at the end of this year and will be working freelance as a writer with the opportunity to develop his interests in spirituality and Spiritual Direction. He and his wife Pat live in Ludlow, and he will be working as a volunteer Priest with us, taking services and getting to know each of our 6 Churches. He will be a familiar face to some as he helped out during the Vacancy before I arrived and has taken occasional services for us since then. We hope to be offering a course that Nick has written, called Soul Spark, that explores Spirituality, in the New Year.
In other news, the Harvest season is now well and truly upon us and I hope you will take the opportunity to join one of our Harvest services in the Benefice and no doubt enjoy some of the many tasty benefits of living in such a rural area that produces wonderful food and drink all year round.
Harvest is a time for us to come together and thank God for all the good gifts He gives to us. It is also a time for us to remember, give thanks for and pray for all those who produce the food we enjoy, our Farmers, Growers, Producers, those who take the fruits of the Harvest and make them into wonderful products for us to enjoy, and those who serve them to us in our shops and supermarkets. It is also a time for us to remember those who struggle to feed their families, and many of our Harvest services are collecting items for the Ludlow Foodbank, so please do give generously during those services.
My prayer for all of us this harvest season is summed up in the words of the final verse of We plough the fields;
We thank thee then, O Father, For all things bright and good, The seed time and the harvest, Our life, our health, our food. Accept the gifts we offer For all thy love imparts, And what thou most desirest, Our humble, thankful hearts.
With my love and prayers Lynn
