News from St. Andrew’s, Ashford Bowdler – April 19

Our annual parish meetings took place in the church on 25th March with the Rector, Rev. Lyn Money, and 11 members of our electoral roll present, the same as last year. At the Annual Meeting of Parishioners, Ann Lansdell was re-elected to serve as churchwarden for another year and a vote of thanks for her work over the past year was also passed. It is now several years since we had two churchwardens, but we manage to keep going with help from others when needed.
At the Annual Parochial Church Meeting which followed, Jean Allen and Michelle Hodnett were re-elected to the PCC for a further three years. The PCC therefore continues to comprise Jean, Michelle, Michael Chesshire, Michael Shallow, Kirstie Turner, Alison and Rupert Coggon and Ann and Jeremy Lansdell, plus Margaret Small as an honorary member. At the first meeting of the new PCC following the annual meetings, Jeremy Lansdell was re-appointed as Vice-Chairman and Treasurer and Ann Lansdell was re-appointed as secretary.

Like many others, we were horrified by the tragic fire at Notre Dame cathedral in Paris on the Monday before Easter. In accordance with the wishes of the Archbishops of Canterbury and York – and along with other churches in our benefice and throughout the country – a single bell was tolled at St Andrew’s for seven minutes at 7pm on Thursday, 18th April, in sympathy for our fellow Christians in France and the French nation at large.

The next meeting of the new PCC will be on Monday, 3rd June, at Church House at 7.30pm.
