On 12th April we held our annual parish meetings in the church, with Rev. Kelvin Price in the chair and 15 members of our electoral roll present. We were pleased to have a much larger attendance than last year.
Michael Chesshire had decided not to seek re-election as churchwarden. In the absence of any other volunteers, Margaret Small had kindly offered to put her name forward, on the understanding that she would have support from other parishioners in setting up services, and she had recruited four households in the parish to do this on a rota basis. Margaret’s offer was gratefully received and her appointment was unanimously approved by those present. Kelvin expressed his grateful thanks to Mi-chael for acting as sole churchwarden during a difficult year for the Ludlow Team Ministry and for all the support he had received from Michael. A vote of thanks to Michael was agreed unanimously.
Roger Brooking has decided not to seek re-election to the PCC, but Michelle Hodnett has agreed to serve in his place. She and Jean Allen were elected as PCC members for the next 3 years and thanks were expressed to them and to Roger for his past service. The continuing lay members of the PCC are now Michael Chesshire and Jeremy Lansdell (being our two Deanery Synod representatives), Jean Allen, Michelle Hodnett, Ann Lansdell, Margaret Small, Michael Shallow and Kirstie Turner.
At the first meeting of the new PCC following the annual meetings, Jeremy Lansdell was re-appointed as Vice-Chairman and Treasurer. Kirstie Turner had previously given notice that she wished to stand down as Secretary and Kelvin thanked her for all her good work over the past few years. Ann Lansdell said she was willing to take on the role on a temporary basis and was elected with the thanks of the meeting.
The meetings were followed by a lively open forum, in which the future of the church and the parish were discussed at some length. It was agreed that, for such a small parish, there were some big challenges ahead in terms of finance and church attendances which would need to be addressed by the PCC at its future meetings.
