It was good to meet up again after the August break and to see and hear what people had been up to over the summer.
The workshop on ‘Dorset Buttons’ was well received and some lovely buttons were made by members of the group. Time didn’t allow ‘Dorset posies’ to be made although we did cover the technique which is very similar to the buttons. There will be an opportunity to have a go at making a posy at future meetings.
Thoughts are already turning to the making of simple Xmas gifts. Over the next couple of meetings there will be an opportunity to do some simple makes, including tissue box covers, scissor holders and drinks coasters as well as sharing ideas for small Xmas wreaths. Members are also involved with their individual projects and we’ll no doubt be seeing a variety of work being done at our sessions.
For those of you who would like to do some knitting or would like to learn to knit we will start off with knitting squares which will be made into blankets for the Dog Rescue charity.
Our two sewing machines will be on hand for running up simple drawstring bags for holding the little knitted teddies made for the ‘Teddies for Tragedies’ charity. They are also there for you to use with your own sewing project and for doing all those little sewing jobs and alterations you’ve been meaning to get round to.
As you can see there’s plenty to get involved with so please do come along. We are a friendly group and it would be lovely to see you.
The next meeting is on Monday 20th October at 2pm.
If you are working on a project please do bring that along. If you’d like to do some stitching, bring a little sewing kit or if you fancy doing some knitting bring knitting needles and yarn. But don’t worry if not as all materials can be supplied.
