The Knit & Stitch craft group was a very quiet affair at its last session with most people still on their summer break or recovering from the flu jab!
A wonderful aroma of freshly harvested lavender filled the air, making it a very relaxing afternoon. Lavender birds were made to hang in wardrobes and clothes cupboards, an especially good use as lavender in a natural moth repellent. One, embroidered in Xmas colours, is destined to hang on the Xmas tree.
Some ideas were shared for the making of card boxes and needle cases. Both are very useful for gifts. Thoughts are beginning to turn to Xmas and what handmade gifts we could do that are simple to make as well as time and cost-effective. At our next meeting we will have an optional workshop on making Xmas cards and gift tags.
Everyone is most welcome to join us. It’s a relaxed informal gathering where anything goes. Bring anything you are currently working on but don’t worry if you’ve got nothing on the go. There’s always an optional little workshop going on that you can get involved with. A couple of sewing machines are available for those wishing to run up a little number or do some alterations. Help is at hand should you need it.
October Workshop: Simple handmade Xmas cards and gift tags. Take the opportunity to make your own gift tags this year and maybe a handmade card for that special friend.
Next meeting 2pm Monday 19 October (3rd Monday).
