Knit & Stitch Feb 2016

Knit and StitchSome lovely projects are currently being undertaken by some members. A soft and cuddly crocheted cat was keeping an eye out and listening in on all the chatter! A lovely quilt in shades of blue was being hand quilted. It was interesting to see the tools used in this process. Quilters tape enabled accurate lines to be stitched and a very useful gadget helped pull the needle through the cloth. I think I’m going to buy one as I’m sure my arthritic fingers will appreciate it. I’m putting it on my ‘to get’ list along with a decent thimble that fits! Lovely Tilda fabrics were being used to applique Spring bunnies onto a tea towel. A very nice touch to the kitchen.
Lots of Twiddlemuffs were in evidence. Strips had been knitted using an assortment of yarns. These were embelliDSCN0685shed during the session with buttons, bows, crocheted flowers and all manner of twiddly-bits. In all 24 Twiddlemuffs will be donated to Charity, including Ludlow hospital who are anxious to receive some for use as comforters for their dementia patients. An ex-cellent effort. Well done everyone.
Next month: There will be an opportunity to make a simple Easter gift bag for holding little Easter treats, whilst keen knitters can have a go at making bunting. As usual, some members will be doing their own thing and working on their own projects. Anything goes at our sessions. It’s a relaxed and informal gathering, and everyone is most welcome to join us.
Next meeting: 2pm Monday 21 March (3rd Monday),
