Les was born at Nunupton Farm in Brimfield and attended Brimfield School until he was 14. He was often in trouble for being late because he had to help his father on the milk round and he was a bit of a mischievous boy but always denied setting fire to the wooden toilet.
When Les was 17 he went to work for Mr George Randall in Ashford Bowdler, and then in his early 20’s he spent several years in the RAF before emigrating to Canada. He came home for a holiday, met Eunice and decided to stay here.
Les and Eunice bought Rose Mead in 1965. Les was a countryman through and through and enjoyed the outdoor life. He had several jobs around the village including, for a time, the milk round, but his real love was his garden. His flower garden was a sight to behold and he grew magnificent vegetables which he sold to local people.
Les and Eunice were regular churchgoers and even when he became blind, Eunice would lead him to church. Eventually though, failing health for both of them meant that Les went into The Old Rectory nursing home in Tenbury where he died on 11th October.
