Knit & Stich – May

There were lots of lovely Easter chicks and bunnies in evidence at the April Knit & Stitch craft group meeting, with members finishing off their little egg covers. An amazing hand quilted spread, the result of many years of patient stitching, was shown by Chris whilst Marilyn collected a few knitted teddies from the group to add to the ones knitted by herself and friends for the Teddies for Tragedies charity. In all about 100 teddies will be donated. They are due to be taken in a St John Ambulance aid relief convoy to Syria during Easter week.
Experienced knitters in the group offered help to new knitters and the alteration of knitted garments was also looked at. Bunting for Ludlow in Bloom was discussed and materials and equipment will be available at the next session for people to make a piece of bunting for the display. The art of decoupage, or decopatch as it’s commonly called today, was discussed with a small group ‘having a go’. This proved so popular that everyone expressed an interest in trying it out.
The next meeting is on Monday 19th May when, as well as perhaps making a piece of bunting, there will be the opportunity to make a decopatched paperweight. Please bring a pebble to cover and a small plastic bag to take it home in as it will take a little while to dry out.
Everyone is welcome. Bring your knitting or stitching or just yourself as there is always something to have a go at.
