A rather unusual start to the evening began with the President introducing Edmond Hawen who showed us his display of baskets and explained the rudiments of basket making, he then continued making a basket whilst everyone turned around and the business meeting began.
Jo Hall asked for individual application forms claiming the lottery grant, she then stated that Denman had agreed to provide a special package for a group of members (minimum 12) on an agreed subject if a course was not available, early in March.
It was agreed that the Christmas celebrations would be afternoon tea at Fishmore Hall starting at 3.30 pm on our normal meeting day 11th December.
The Secretary gave a summary of our activities over the last twelve months, we have enjoyed a busy and successful year with a wide variety of speakers, several outings all culminating with our 90th year Birthday Celebrations.
The President thanked all the committee members for their work and particularly those who will be leaving the Committee. She commented on the growing strength of the craft group and the walking group which is an indication of the success of the branch as a whole. Jenny was unanimously re-elected President and looked forward to another year of entertainment and fun.
We turned around once more to admire the basket Mr Hewen was putting the finishing touches to, he was thanked by Barbara Roberts.
The first meeting of 2014 will be held in Ashford Village Hall on Wednesday 8th January at 7.30p.m. If you are feeling a little deflated after all the excitement of Christmas and New Year Celebrations why not come along and join us.
