November 2017

Knit & Stitch has restarted after its Summer break.

‘Show and Tell’ gave an insight into what everyone had been up to over the summer months. An amigurmi crocheted pussy cat, knitted jacket, appliqué and embroidery panels, a sewing roll holder made from lovely needlework themed fabrics, needle-felting and an assortment of quilted bags, including ‘ditty bags’ with woven panels. There was a lot to look at and take inspiration from. I’ve had a sewing roll on my ‘to do’ list for ages. I’ve now picked up some ideas and I am going to get it crossed off my list!

Everyone had a go at the Autumn leaves bookmark workshop. Embellished with simple embroidery stitches, they looked splendid in their autumn colours and would make a lovely and useful gift.

Plans were shared for future stitching projects including one member planning to embark on the making of Roman blinds. The large tables at the village hall are ideal for cutting out and between us all we have the knowledge and know how to help anyone through any stitching project. There will be a sewing machine available if you need one.

You can bring any craft project you are working on and it’s a good opportunity to get on with those unfinished pieces. If you are not working on anything but still fancy some ‘hands on’, then there will be an optional workshop that you can join in on.

Everyone is welcome

Next meeting: Mon 20 November (3rd Monday) 2-4pm Ashford Carbonel village hall

Optional Workshop: Patchwork star.

Materials will be provided but please bring a small sewing kit if you have one. Memory stars can be made out of old fabrics with sentimental value.

NB:The December meeting will take place a week earlier than usual – 11th Dec.
