News from St. Andrew’s, Ashford Bowdler – Nov

Our Harvest Festival evensong was led by Geoffrey Adams on Sunday 8th October and most people stayed on for refreshments afterwards at Church House. The collection of £181.84 was as usual donated to the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution. Our thanks to all who attended and donated.

There will be no morning service on Remembrance Sunday (12th November), but we will have our normal service of Evensong at 6.30pm which will include a short act of remembrance. See the previous week’s pew sheet for details of remembrance services at other churches in the Ashfords group.

Looking ahead, our Patronal Festival evensong this year will be on Thursday, 30th November at the later time of 7.00pm. We are delighted that our new Lay Reader, Stephen Treasure, has agreed to lead the service and we will also be welcoming our former vicar, Kelvin Price, as preacher.  After the service, there will be refreshments and a raffle at Church House and the collection and raffle proceeds will as usual go to the Church Missions Society. See the separate box advert for further details. Do come if you can.

At this time of year, we remind readers once again of the food bank box in the church porch. As winter approaches and food prices continue rising, help for those in need becomes even more important. The box contains a list of the items that go to make up individual parcels, which are all easily obtainable and long lasting. However, please remember not to donate items which are past their ‘sell by’ date, as these cannot be included in the parcels.

Note for PCC members: The next meeting of the PCC will be on Monday, 20th November, at Church House at 7pm
