News from St Andrew’s, Ashford Bowdler

Annual Meetings
The Annual Meeting of Parishioners and the Annual Parochial Church Meeting will be held in St. Andrew’s Church on Tuesday, 14th April, starting at 7pm. The first meeting is open to all residents of Ashford Bowdler, while the second is only for those on the church electoral roll. This is your chance to hear what the church and the Parochial Church Council (PCC) have been doing over the past year and to make any comments and suggestions for what we may do in future. The meetings will be followed by a first meeting of the new PCC.
Formal notice of the meetings will be sent in advance to all those on the electoral roll, together with the agenda and the financial statements for 2014 and other reports. If you are not yet on the church electoral roll and would like to be added, please contact Ann Lansdell (831268) for the necessary form as soon as possible. The qualification for entry on the roll is that you should be baptised in the Church of England (or a church in communion with the Church of England) and either be resident within the parish of Ashford Bowdler or have worshipped at St. Andrew’s church within the past six months.
Easter Services
Holy Communion on Easter Day will take place at the usual time of 11.15am, using the Book of Common Prayer. We hope to see as many of you as possible and do bring any friends or family you may have staying with you.
Also, as a new service for Ashford Bowdler, there will be a celebration of Compline on Good Friday at 7pm. Do come to this short service of prayer and contemplation for the end of the day if you are able.
Future Services
As you may have heard already, our regular pattern of services will be changing from April onwards. The third and fourth Sunday services will be reversed, so that Evensong will now be celebrated on the third Sunday, still at 6.30pm, and the fourth Sunday service will be Holy Communion, also at the usual time of 11.15am.
Also, since Easter falls on the first Sunday of the month this year, the service on the second Sunday (12th April) will be Matins, instead of Holy Communion, at the usual time of 11.15am. This change applies to April only.
When there is a fifth Sunday in the month, the usual joint service of Holy Communion for all the parishes in the Ashfords group will now be taking place at St. Laurences’s church in Ludlow at 10.00am. On these Sundays, there will therefore be no service at Ashford Bowdler.
If in doubt about any of these changes, please refer to the list of services on the back cover of the Ashford’s Parish magazine each month.
