Knit & Stitch Mar 2017

My how time flies when you’re having fun!
I just don’t know where the time went at our February session. It seemed that we no sooner had started than it was tea and biscuits and then home time!
Show and tell included some lovely examples of cross stitch, some antique embroidered heirlooms, inspiring quilting, and samples of machine drawing undertaken at a recent Westhope College course. Also we were able to delve behind the covers of a City & Guilds portfolio illustrating design ideas incorporated into Glasswork. Finished needlecases from last month’s session were looking resplendent with their embroidered covers. We saw a photo of a blue Easter bunny and a lovely lemon child’s cardigan which had been knitted in super-quick time. Someone kept quiet about the lovely set of silver jewellery they were wearing which had been made on a day course! A visitor from the Shetlands shared some of her lovely woolly works. Now we all want to have a go at making one of those!
The embroidery theme continued with the opportunity to undertake some cross stitch. Also some people created Green Hearts to reflect the W.I.’s environmental awareness campaign.
Also we looked at how to cover a notebook in fabric. Some notebooks will be completed and/or embellished at our next session
Next meeting: Monday 20 March 2 – 4pm at Ashford Carbonel village hall.
Optional work shop on making woven ribbon cards
Everyone welcome.
