Caynham Ashford WI September 2017

Chris said that after what seemed like a long time it was nice to welcome members to our September meeting and also two new guests whom she hoped would join us in the future. Our Walking/Lunch/Cinema and Craft Groups are all starting up again after the sum-mer……summer!!! Unfortunately our speaker for the evening had to cancel but, ever resourceful, we had a game of Kurling. This is always such good fun, a lot of competitive barracking, clapping and laughing. Are we improving…….well maybe after a few more sessions. The Group meeting is on 28th September in Knowbury and the speaker Colin Richards is telling us about Conserving the Saxon Villages of Transylvania. Quite a few of our members are attending the event and I’m sure it will be a very informative and enjoyable evening, not only having an interesting speaker but also to catch up and have supper with our fellow group members. The competition is Egg Decoration, hopefully one of our skilled crafters will conjure up a beautiful Fabergé creation. Our next meeting is in Caynham on 11th October when John Swift will speak on Family History of Baking. The competition is a home made bread roll. We are always looking for new members and you can always be assured of a warm welcome. SMW
